'Tornado' is going to be quite busy on the Main Line during the coming days:

- Saturday 16th March: 'The Cathedrals Express' [Southend-Upminster-Willesden Junc'n (HL)-Didcot Parkway-Bath Spa-Bristol Temple Meads (and return)]

Yes, I know that it's TODAY, but this one 'slipped under my radar' as they say. My apologies. However, in case you may want to see the return journey, here are the Timings and Route:

http://www.uksteam.info/tours/t13/t0316a.htm

- Tuesday 19th March: 'The Cathedrals Express' [Tonbridge-Kensington Olympia-Worcester (and return)]:

60163 replaces 70000 which is 'unavailable' for this Excursion. No Route/Timings information available at the moment.

- Thursday 21st March: 'The Cathedrals Express' [Acton Yard-Didcot Parkway-Bath Spa-Bristol Temple Meads (and return)]

Route and Timings on the link below:

http://www.uksteam.info/tours/t13/t0321a.htm

There are two more imminent, scheduled Excursions:

- Saturday 23rd March: 'The Cathedrals Express' [London-Kingswear (and return)]

- Tuesday 26th March: 'The Cathedrals Express' [Newbury-Staines-Clapham Junction-Canterbury (and return)]

No Route/Timings just yet. As always, for up to date information, please check on the uksteaminfo website:

Tour today is running behind Clan Line. Tornado is NOT running due to an overheated crosshead.
That info came from A1 Steam Locomotive Trust's Facebook page about an hour ago.

Thank you Robert, most appreciated. You are more up to date than the uksteaminfo website. I know these 'unfit to run' changes do happen at short notice sometimes. Makes it all the more 'exciting'!

'Tornado' has been absent from the Main Line for a while, due to 'air pump problems'. These have now been remedied and she will return tomorrow:

-Tuesday 11th June: 'The Elizabethan' [London Kings Cross-York-Darlington-Edinburgh and return (diesel hauled)]. This Excursion is the 're-scheduled' one, from 8th June.

They are coming 'thick and fast' now. Next Excursion:

-Tuesday 9th July: 'The Cathedrals Express' [London Waterloo-Clapham Junction*-Woking-Swanage and return (Steam Hauled from Southampton on this leg) but not stopping at Clapham Junction]

*The Train will be stopping at Clapham Junction for a scheduled 7 minutes on the 'Outward' Leg, in commemoration of 'The End of Southern Steam' on 9th July 1967, when Steam Locomotives finished working scheduled services on the Southern Region of British Railways, 'never to return'. How wrong they were!!! :D

For details of the 'Provisional' Timings and Route, please click on the link below:

http://www.uksteam.info/tours/t13/t0709a.htm

Check nearer the time/on the day itself for Final details.

Many thanks, Robert; that's fantastic :) Most appreciated.

I hope that they keep to these Timings. Due to the extremely hot conditions, trains today between Waterloo and Clapham Junction have been subject to severe speed restrictions!

News just read via railway herald ... tomorrows trip to Swanage with Tornado is now diesel hauled due to the hot weather. Lineside fires also in the south east of england due to arcing also. Poor Tornado. I hope this steam hot weather ban isnt going to last long :( :( :(.

Oh dear, what a shame. I was looking forward to seeing 'Tornado' tomorrow. Really feel sorry though mainly for the passengers who have paid a lot of money for this Excursion; most of them on the basis that it was to be Steam Hauled......and by 'Tornado' :(

Really appreciate you letting me know about this Robert. I would have had a wasted journey otherwise.

Thanks Ray. I have now seen all 3 liveries that she has been in. Missed the all over grey one.
She looks very nice in the blue. Pity there was a diesel on the front all the way there and back.
