Southern Locomotives Ltd have posted some more Photos (taken in Jan & Feb 2020 ) on their website. These continue to show the ongoing work with the Overhaul of 'Eddystone', at Herston Works, Swanage.

They also include some more of the continuing work being carried out on 'Manston', at Tyseley (Birmingham).

[Unfortunately, at the time of posting this, no titles have been added to the photos. Hopefully, these will be added, in due course, by SLL].

Southern Locomotives have posted some more photos on their website. These will be the last for some time as they were taken on 12th March, during the last Volunteer Session at Herston Works, prior to the Coronavirus 'Lock Down' from 24th March.

At that time, 'Eddystone' was only about 3 months away from completion!

[Most of the Photos in my previous Post have now had their titles added. You may, therefore, also wish to revisit these]

34028 'Eddystone' left Herston Works, by road (to go to Norden) on 26th April 2021, following her Major ('10 Year') Overhaul. Here she was reunited with her Tender. The Locomotive is now ready for Testing and Commissioning before entering Service on the Swanage Railway, after seven years of the Overhaul. She looks absolutely immaculate!

'West Country Class' Locomotive, 'Eddystone' had been performing well since 'returning to traffic'. However, a crack has been found in the Bogie Frame. We are indebted to the Mid-Hants Railway who have loaned us their Bogie Frame from 'Wadebridge' for a couple of months, which will enable 'Eddystone' to be operational within a few days.

Continuing on from my earlier Post of Tue Mar 09, 2021, Southern Locomotives have posted some more photos on their website. These show the continuing (and sometimes 'unplanned'!) work on each of the 'home based' Locomotives ('Eddystone'; '257 Squadron'; 'Sidmouth'; 'Manston' and '80104').

Please use the link below to see these Photos (My Pic Nos 20 & 21 {March 2021} and 22 to 76 {April through to October 2021}:

To conclude all the work on the various Locomotives that has taken place in 2021, Southern Locomotives Ltd have added some photos to their website. These cover the period from October to December 2021. Please use the link below to see these Photos (My Pic No's 77 to 116 incl.):

Now that 'Eddystone' has returned to service, my future Posts will come under the 34010 'Sidmouth' Topic (which will also include the ongoing work on 35025 'Brocklebank Line').

Some good news regarding 34070 'Manston'. This Locomotive has now, at last, returned to Herston Works (as shown in the above photos) after 4 years away at Tyseley (Birmingham) undergoing repairs (and Overhaul) following the 'low speed shunt' at Swanage. There is still about 3 months' work to be carried out, at Herston Works, before this Locomotive can return to service.

Wishing you all a Happy and Healthy 2022.

Things have moved on somewhat since my previous Post on 34028.

'Eddystone' has entered Herston Works for a (routine) Piston & Valve (P&V) Inspection. PLUS: Additional work to prepare the Locomotive for (possible) Main Line Running!
