Canadairs practicing

Postby MOD » Wed Jul 03, 2013 11:13 pm

Tuesday the 25th June. We were visiting the Chateau at Lac Borts les Orgues Auvergne when this pair of 'Canadairs'
arrived for some practice.

Thanks guys and ma petite grenouille. ;) We were visiting this chateau and lake for the first time since 1990 and my wife and friends had gone into the chateau on a guided tour, leaving me on the bar terrace (wherelse?), when I saw this pair of unusual aircraft approaching. They stayed on the lake for around 20 mins practicing taking on water and then water-bombing the lake from around 50 feet.

Correct but they are still universally known as 'Les Canadairs' at least in France.

Thanks Ray. I caught sight of them a few years ago taking on water from the Etang de Thau near Sete but they were too far away to photograph. On that occasion they were not practicing but were busy fighting fires which apparently/allegedly were started by Sapeur Pompiers Volontaires who received a bonus for fighting forest fires!
