Here's the latest on the Lufthansa Connie
Starliner resto:::::::::::::::::

http://www.lufthansa-technik.com/super-star-news-content/-/asset_publisher/I4tE/content/press-release-super-star-news-training-certificates-media-relations

That fellow in plaid front-and-center looks
ready to lift a whole engine by himself :))

Image

Just the most recent evidence of Lufthansa's
efforts to delay first flight for as long as is
humanly possible, however they seemingly WILL
wind-up with an aircraft good for 50-plus years
of flying :ymapplause:

Good On Them!!!!!!!

I was just on an internet surfing
safari and discovered that wiki
now has far more information on
the four Turboprop Constellations
that were built for the US Army
and Navy way back when::::::::

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Lockheed_L-1249_Super_Constellation

Image

Lockheed doesn't seem to have
been able to interest the airlines
in buyinhg a Turboprop Connie,
despite superb performance, so
it was only ever the four...

Too Bad :((

mean I will not keep making them :D

@Danf
please carry on posting ! Lack of comments does not mean lack of interest... How could one ever be tired of such a beautiful, elegant aeroplane ??
Seeing the Breitling Connie at RIAT this year was absolutely fantastic and well worth the long wait !
So yes please, MORE ! :D

I think the Constellation is one of just
a small handful of truly beautiful flying
machines, and I have never tired of her...

I especially love hearing the word elegant
used to describe Connie B-)

She is lovely, though, due to engineering
and operational imperatives rather than
by any direct intention of making her a
stunning aircraft :D

Form arises from function, n'est-ce pas???

Judging by the queues at RIAT, most people thought her gorgeous too, people of all ages willing to stand in the heat for ages just to get a glimpse inside. She was particularly well placed and towered over the surrounding static display, could not miss her, and lots of people were stunned by her elegant lines and presence. Quite a few people decided to come back on the Monday to see her depart, and we all hope that she ll be back again soon :D

The Super Constellation Flyers Association
would LIKE to be able to spend three-plus
weeks per summer in the UK giving flights
to members, but your CAA won't allow them
to do this :(( :(( :((

Memberships and flights are how they pay
for the Connie's upkeep since Breitling's not
quite rich enuff to pick-up the whole tab :p

Wouldn't THAT be nice, though :D :D :D ?

One thing you might like to know, Kermit,
is that the Kansas City Connie is the only
one still flying (...almost :D ) that actually
was an airliner rather than a military plane...

She also has a totally accurate interior just
as she would have served TWA way back then
courtesy of the retired TWA engineers who
restored her over a long period :D

She is MY favo(u)rite Constellation B-)

Back In The Air SOON!!!!!!

I guess the Connie Flyers organization feels
they had an outstanding display season with
the highlight being their visit to your country :D

I wish they'd take the trip again and stay for
a longer time, but we shall see.....

Thanks, Dan, old chap. A really nice clip, it was a shame the Connie didn't fly at Fairford, seeing as I own a part of her ('cos I've got a Breitling Image) Oh, and a Rolex, but they are just investments :D
She reminds me of a colt when her undercarriage is down, but classy, classy, classy.

Nice piece of footage, but I don't think the Breiting livery does the Connie any favours. The waist line dipping to the nose exaggerates the "flying banana" shape into something more ridiculous than it already is.

IMHO, and with flak jacket firmly buttoned.

XM655 has four of them, all serviceable.
