It should be pointed out that said
batteries were out-sourced from a
Japanese company, but I don't know
concerning the ancillary systems....

I too hope for a swift resolution....

Boeing has said it will continue production of its 787 Dreamliner, but has suspended deliveries of any further aircraft until a battery problem is resolved.

All 50 Dreamliners in service around the world have been grounded while safety tests are carried out, following the emergency landing of a Japanese airliner because of a fault.

The US Federal Aviation Administration has joined the investigation into the faults, with a spokesperson saying the 787 would not fly until authorities were "1,000% sure" it was safe.

Probably not. There are quite a few photos of the damaged batteries out there, quite a mess really. Still shouldn't take too long to sort out.

It was a Lithium Ion battery fire that brought down the UPS 747 at Dubai in 2010. Not long ago, US legislators tried (and failed) to pass legislation banning them in cargo, because of the fire risk and consequences.

Seems strange Boeing would choose to use one as the aircraft battery. :-? :-?

Lots of references online, including this.

US safety officials have widened their probe into a Japan Airlines-operated Boeing 787 Dreamliner, after deciding that overheating was not the cause of a battery fire.
The focus is now on the battery charger and the plane's auxiliary power unit.

This just up today::::::::::::::

http://www.france24.com/en/20130205-dreamliner-battery-suffered-thermal-runaway-probe

I think it just HAS to be some design
flaw in the batteries themselves....

And that is despite the L-I battery being from a different supplier ~ Saft for Airbus and GS Varsa for Boeing. :-?
