I'm never more happy than painting these old machines and Sopwith produced some fantastic aircraft. The Sopwith Triplane caused the Germans so many problems they produced no fewer than 34 Triplane prototypes of their own resulting of course in the production of the Fokker Triplane.
Hmm.. I'm wondering if I could incorporate this in a title?

Hows about "Stinging Bees" for a title?

I remember watching quite a few killer bee films, scary stuff!

I'm pleased you like the new painting. Rickenbacker was an amazing man, a hero in every sense of the word. He led such an active life, even a tiny part of it would be enough for most of us. As for his skill as a fighter pilot, one of the best ever. Combining Rickenbacker with one of the prettiest aircraft ever made was a must to paint at some point

It's for a competition next week that I'd forgotten about hence the use of acrylic instead of oil and the small size. Contributing to the exhibition being more important than winning, although I have to say I'm very pleased with the painting, it turned out a lot better than I thought it would

I have to agree the originals do tend to look better than the photo's. As for what's next, I'm waiting for an Aussie to get back to me on a commission he's thinking of having done. I'm not holding my breath though, there are a lot of tyre kickers around, he does sound genuine though. Failing any commission work I think it might be back to WW1
