Thanks ...was at work when it happened... have lost many friends over the years.... it goes with the job....never get used to it though ... only 1 this year thank heavens.

A terrible waste of life, especially when there were measures already available and of proven capability to prevent its occurrance; someone somewhere should be ashamed...I understand that the cost of this retro fit was not excessive, but yet again we ask people to go into harms way without reasonable equipment. It's not as if the risk was unexpected, or came about at short notice, after all, we knew that these aircraft were to be used in this environment.
My thoughts are with the families and colleagues of those lost

Its all about risk analysis and and reducing the risks to acceptable levels. Hindsight is a wonderful thing but at the time I assume that these things were looked at. In the end I suppose it all comes down to money. We are engaged in a different type of conflict now than when the equipment was new. The risks change and there is a time lag until the equipment catches up. These are my own views and not official ones you understand.

how many more lives will be lost before the proper funding is put in place, rather than buying out private banks, who've mysteriously run out of money?
