I heard rumours it was an ejection - however the only confirmation so far is it was an incident on the ground and the pilot has been taken to Lincoln Hospital.

Sadly Yahoo reporting pilot killed. Chute failed to deploy.

There were reports of a fatality - however some of these reports have reverted to ' seriously injured' so fingers crossed things are not as bad as they could be.....
Various names and call signs have been mentioned on other fora - under the confusing circumstances please refrain from quoting them until the MOD have confirmed who or which a/c were involved.

I can't believe it

I've lived in the same house my whole life, we're just on the edge of their air space so they have been a massive part of my life.
I can't tell you how sad I am right now
But it's nothing compared to how their family and the team must be feeling, my thoughts go out to them.
R.I.P.

Yes same for someone on Fighter control
If the family want the name with held for a while that is their prerogative and we should all respect that!!

a very sad day, saw them flying on friday evening

i think the hawk is a mk 10 seat and rated as zero/zero in level attitude. so should be ok on the ground i think.
again best wishes to the family and the REDS

I wonder if this is significant?
http://www.bbc.co.uk/news/uk-wales-nort ... s-10782263My thoughts are with the Reds' friends and families, especially those of the pilot involved in the fatal accident today..

As an American, I don't feel especially comfortable
saying much about this tragedy, but I can say that
both the Blue Angels and Thunderbirds have also
had their own dark days and periods of time when
nothing seemed to be going right.
But they went on, as will the Arrows, as those who
have died would not only have wanted but also
would have expected.
Not a Brit, but Hurting;

The Hawk seat will indeed work as a ZERO/ZERO seat!
At the moment I feel it would be innapropriate to enter in to any conjecture over the cause of this sad incident!
