when trying to get updates for the above program, I get a message displayed saying `connection failed`

Can anyone suggest what to do?

There lots of things to try ... depending on which windows version you are running ....one is bound to crack it for you... :D

Ok - so just change the Google search to ...

microsoft security essentials - connection failed - windows 7 64 bit


and go from there ... just tried it - the search title is pretty much broad as its long ... the same answers seem to come up and there's bound to be a solution there somewhere I think ...
