Clarkson & Planes

Postby Thumper » Sun Jan 10, 2010 2:20 pm

Just watched an episode of "Speed" and it was great, had the Typhoon on it, Airliners and a short history of ejection seats.

Found the entire series here, it's 2hrs 45 minutes long but if you just want to watch the aircraft bits then...

At 35 minutes you have the Typhoon simulator and ejection seats

1:06:00 has pilots psychometric testing, the Empire Test Pilots School featuring a stalling Hawker Hunter which is incredible!!

1:34:40 has the NASA aircraft aerodynamics "wind tunnel", RAF base in Bedford about decompression and then WW2 fighters and Supersonic flight with the Bell X1, an appearance from Lightning XS458 and a lovely piece on Concorde

2:03:00 the jet engine, SR-71, NASA Shuttles

2:23:00 Concorde, Spitfire

2:35:50 Concorde, MIG and an experience "DogFight" day, more of Lightning XS458 and Clarkson buying his Lightning XM172

ENJOY! :D

You wouldn't have been able to see out of the cockpit anyway!

He would have tried to stand up, just like last June. :))

One Olympus 301 has twice the power of a complete F1 starting grid.
XM655 has four of them, all serviceable.
