Second Carrier should be built so that it can
be upgraded at a later date in order to avoid
the dreaded "What were we THINKING?" Syndrome.

nah D4th tis much better to change one plans now, THEN rethink in the future, decide you can't do without them after all & LEASE said item at twice the cost it would have been to see the original plan through .. :p

Either I have misread or mis understood the report. It reads that both carriers are to be built but only one to have the JSF the other will be a helicopter landing ship. Still not good news but the politics and finance will always cloud things.

Time to scrap the navy!

here we go - time to deny the RN what they've craved ever since they lost their previous 'proper' carriers! ~x(

yet again, HM Forces Will end up with a bit of kit, designed to do a completely different job to the one it'll end up doing. i wonder how long it will be before the Army are given a new fleet of Chally 2 tanks, but are told by Whitehall they can only afford for them to be used to empty the bins

i wonder if we end up with a navalised Typhoon after all?
