72 Sqn queery

Postby Sploosher » Sun Jan 16, 2011 6:29 pm

A flickr contact of mine took a picture of a 72 Squadron Tucano at Coningsby with the name of an African king "Moshoeshoe on the side, and he was wondering what the connection, if any, was/is.

Can anyone help :D

It's to do with the fact that 72 Sqn is also No 72 (Basutoland) Squadron.

IIRC Moshoeshoe was a king of Basutoland and indeed another 72(R) Tucano is named Basuto.

There are others with names and they slip my mind at present!

'Black Prince' is another
In memory of a very dear friend - Mike Pearson

Very fond memories of Robbie Gilvary - DTs 1st Vulcan Captain who taught DT all he knew.

ZF169 Makesi
ZF205 Black Horse
ZF209 Eniskillen

The 2 with no name are actually called 'And' & 'The'.
You usually see them in formation with Jason and Argonaut :D
