Emergency services yesterday received numerous calls when mysterious loud bangs were heard across the Home Counties, Cotswolds, Wiltshire, Somerset and parts of the Midlands just after 6pm. It transpired that the culprits were a pair of QRA Typhoons going supersonic after approval was given to intecept a helicopter in the Oxford area that was emitting a signal that indicated it had gone rogue or was being hi-jacked. The MOD said that an "idiot" (their words) helo pilot used the wrong frequency that emitted the signal that brought out the QRA from Coningsby. Apparently the helo had realised his mistake before the Tiffs arrived on the scene but they still gave him a thorough looking over. I would say that there was probably quite a red glow eminating from the helo cockpit.
