Yep, today I took the plunge & bought my first serious camera...Sony NEX-7 with an 18-55 lens.

I wanted a small but capable CSC multi lens unit, I think this is it, once I get the measure of it
an (A) mount A/F lens converter with something 100-400mm will compliment my requirements
for a long shots...yes it will look weird small camera Giant lens, But so what,

Any lens suggestions would be welcome.

Lenses are subjective, but a simple rule of thumb is to buy the best you can afford and only buy once.

If you plan to shoot aircraft at airshows you will need a 400mm lens, if you are sitting on the approach to the runway 300mm will suffice. A zoom will cover more occaisions than a fixed lens at the expense of a slight drop in picture quality.

Tamron make some very good lenses, good value and good specification.

Sploosher is a Sony fan and will probably be along shortly to enlarge on my points.

Get out and shoot pictures, practice is key!
