I've just seen in Flypast that Peter Vallance of the Gatwick Aviation Museum died on 14th January.
I was away skiing at the time so missed it if it was reported in the local press.
He endured a long battle with the council who wanted to close him down because he was in "Green Belt" (literally a few yards from Gatwick's runway) and his collection suffered from not being allowed to be undercover.
As well as aircraft a fascinating collection of engines, models and ephemera. He was always willing to discuss aircraft (sometimes you couldn't get away).
I hope it can continue without him.
