The Ultimate Silent Auction on behalf of XM655

Postby Bovril » Wed May 26, 2010 12:15 am

I am sure that you are all aware of our Wings and Wheels run day on the 20th June, but are you aware that we are also holding a silent auction on that day, with some very nice items to bid on?

For those who don’t know about silent auctions, the rules are simple just write down your bid on the auction sheet (you can keep increasing your amount if you are out bid) and the highest by 3pm on the day wins -.

To give everyone a chance – i.e. those who are unable to make the day, you can send a an email to Marmite at
ww-xm655@hotmail.co.uk, with your highest bid (don’t forget to include your phone number and say which item you are bidding on) – THIS MUST BE DONE BY 9pm on the 18th (any email bids after that time will be void) – Marmite will print off the bids and add them as appropriate to the sheets on the run day (20th).

Please note that your bid does not include P&P, but we can arrange for you to collect the item by prior arrangement from Wellesbourne any Saturday or you can pay postage – we will send as cheaply and safely as possible – no EBay cheating here!

So! what’s on offer?

1) Vulcan XM655 Stator blade – from our refurbished no. 4 engine. The blade which was recently removed due to fracture fatigue has been signed by the current and ex crew of 655 and 558 : Mike Pollitt, Barry Masefield, Martin Withers, Phil O’Dell, Bill Perrins & Phil Davies; we will also be asking Dave Thomas to sign on the run day. This is a great chance to get a unique and very rare item. A certificate of authenticity signed by Eric (aka Sooty) and Charles our Chairman will also be provided.

2) G helmet complete with boom mike. Size 2. Become a vulcan pilot! this is in excellent condition

5) Corgi Avro Vulcan XM655 Limited Ed 2244 of 2900 with certificate. The box lid has been signed by : Mike Pollitt, Barry Masefield, Martin Withers, Phil O’Dell, Phil Davies, Andy Marson & Bill Perrins, again we will be asking our 655s Captain, Dave Thomas to add his signature to the box and also to the model stand. Please note the item is new but the box is a little battle weary – good but scuffed!
