As important a milestone as Our Lady's 50th is, I can't help but think we're missing something that we could use to our benefit.
Even the Mail On Sunday have said we're no longer as newsworthy as we used to be.
How about making a point that 2010 is the Centenary of the formation of A.V. Roe and Company?
Even the Americans acknowledge that it was Alliot Verdon Roe showing his Pusher Glider to the Wright Brothers that encouraged them to drop their Da Vinci Helicopter ideas and work upon the Powered Glider with which they achieved their goal.
It could also be noted that Roe later went on to form Saunders-Roe, the company that tested a successful rocket system that went on to be crucial to the success of America's Gemini and Apollo programmes.
Seeing as Obama has just cancelled the Apollo-like Constellation Programme on account of it being a 'backwards step' it seems that now would be a good time for us to remind the British that we were once World Leaders in Technological Advancements.
