I spent a long time compiling a risk assessment and safe system of work for a particular task in my last job.

Within minutes, a guy was doing up a nut, hadn't put his torque wrench on properly and split his head open when it slipped.

Can't allow for plonkers.

You cannot make something FOOL PROOF.
A fool is a very clever person.

If there is ANY possible way to cock it up a fool will find it and do it.

Nah - they put the things out that morning - but then she should have known what day they put the bins out - then of course there's the extra danger of being thrown in the dustcart by an over stressed teacher =)) =))

Or as was said frequently at RR Ansty during the Marine Tyne programme -

Spend a lot on design, and you may make it foolproof.
Spend a fortune on development, and you might make it idiotproof.
Whatever you spend, you won't make it navyproof.
So make it cheap, let it break, and charge the earth to fix it.

One Olympus 301 has twice the power of a complete F1 starting grid.
XM655 has four of them, all serviceable.

Nah, MF. Mine was the 1960s/70s version.

In 2010 it has become -

Spend a little extra to ensure it only lasts 1 year and 1 day, and then refuse to fix it. :D
