Vulcan Manual

Postby Spitfire » Mon Mar 08, 2010 5:39 pm

I see (from browsing the 'other' forum :p ) there's going to be a Haynes Workshop manual on the Vulcan :D :D

I look forward to that ;)

Also - whilst noodling around for manuals I found this Full Vulcan Manual

If you need to service your Vulcan this should be the very thing till Haynes comes along B-)

He appears to have made some more, when I ordered mine it went down to 5 and it is now showing 10. I look forward to it arriving as it will go with the flight servicing ones and when Denis? finishes producing his discs and the Haynes Manual arrives a lot of us are going to know a lot about the aircraft and better still know what the engineers updates are talking about ;)

We may be able to ask even more difficult questions as well to see what is or is not still working on 558 :D

Haynes Owners' Workshop Manual for the Vulcan arrived today :D :D

On the cover it proudly proclaims ....

"An insight into owning, restoring, servicing and flying Britain's legendary Cold War bomber"

So anything you want to know just ask :p :p

Its VERY current - last entries in February concerning the anonymous bequest of £458K and details of the mods (2222 etc) being carried out.

Loads of interesting reading - lots of nice pics and many exploded diagrams \:D/ \:D/

Pictures of many of you on here too I suspect - greasy hands and overalls - certainly names I recognise :D

Couple of nice pics of DT too Pam :p :D

One mistake I've seen already is the front cover says - in true Haynes style -
'Avro Vulcan 1952 onwards (B2 Model)'

But the inside flysheet says....
'Avro Vulcan 1958 onwards (B2 Model)'

Slight confusion over years there ;)

Thoroughly recommend it .............

I got my copy last week, and as Spitfire mentions there are a few howlers in it, such as a photograph of the CSDU oil temperature guages being captioned as part of the pilot's panels. As any fule kno, these gauges are within the AEO's domain. But nonetheless, it is very entertaining and informative and has plenty of Vulcan photographs that I certainly haven't seen before which makes it worth the cover price alone.

On that note, anyone interested in buying a copy signed by one of the three co-authors should come along to Wings & Wheels at Wellesbourne on Sunday 20th June and see Tony Blackman, the Vulcan test pilot, and he'll sell you one! He will also have his two other Vulcan-related books for sale as well. :)

Probably broke wind.............
The leg restraints are preventing the aroma from sinking to ground level. Body heat is warming it up so it's percolating out of the top of the flying suit.
Super gluing Bazzers boots to the spot isn't helping either. =)) =)) =))

Hi there,

In talking to Haynes, the demand from distributors has been such, they are already considering a reprint.

In that light, please list all other errors you might come across in the best interests of refinement, and I'm sure they will be looked into and corrected if necessary.

Many thanks,
Ian.
