Unfortunately, you will not be dazzled as I will not be in attendance :( ;)

Just about to thumb through the agenda and reports received in the post this morning :)

My initial thoughts on the paperwork are that the agenda is very biased to the retrospective. There's next to nothing setting out the following:

1. The Club's aims for 2009: membership drive, get involved, merchandising etc.
2. Planned social and fundraising events (a clear nod to Roger and Mad March Hare wouldn't have gone amiss)
3. Better / more regular communication with Members: RC's communications report is rather vague! We need a committee report in each newsletter to keep us appraised, not just a photo-glossy IMHO
4. The plans for regional representatives and their role needs to be explained: the Club has to be more than just a cash-cow milking it's Members when the Trust is struggling
5. What are the implications of the Club becoming a greater stakeholder / mover in '558's future: biggest single sponsor?! How do we work with the Trust to mutual benefit?
6. The Members Day & Display... ;)

Oh well, we shall see what happens. AoB could be fun if there are questions from the floor allowed! :D

Nothing like proof of no proof reading is there?! :(( :)) Particularly as the minutes state Rusty resigned and Nicola Ginty took over as Treasurer...

No mention of Nicola's resignation and the search for a new Treasurer either. Or Dickon's promotion to Vice Chairman, presumably at the expense of Paul Bidston: what happened to him? ~x(

Forgive the latter there, as who knows when it went to print ... but I did chuckle at Rusty still being listed.

Sorry, still chuckling :))

well I have no post as yet but knowing Lincolnshire donkey express it will next monday :)) ...so can't at the mo comment on anything other than the mention of Rusty.

I can't believe they still have her listed it's typical, Its these type of silly mistakes that take the edge off & makes them look less than professional.

back to the Rusty listing, I suspect its because its an annual report & Rusty was treasurer at the beginning of the year

looks like you may have a few questions to ask Gully?

I've posted them on the VOC forum for a few committee members to see... ;)

Hopefully, they will pick them up in their presentations!

True, I thought that .... but it is a 'directory' with contact details, so what if I were a member who doesn't keep up to date with goings on? If I had a financial query today on the back of reading the report, I would ring Rusty today and probably get no answer ;). I doubt she has the same email/phone in Spain :))

I noticed that there is an RAF Liaison listed on the back page, have we had one for a while and was Stuart at Waddington for the Scramble and did he help Steven with liaising with the RAF for the Scramble ?

I also noticed the education element being re-iterated but have seen little to show that it is contributing what it was supposed to yet.

not sure I can answer that OR fully. I know they have asked him on occasions if the RAF would in his opinion be amenable towards certain things or ideas but just how involved he is I don't know & I think Steven did his own liaising with Waddington.

Thanks MF, I just find that new positions keep being listed and do not appear to have been 'communicated' as to what they are actually doing.

mackrick, i think I know what you mean ;) and probably not :p

Any answers to these will be interesting that is if they are even considered .
1. The clubs aim for 2009 is a bit off it should have been sorted in 2008 now they should be looking to 2010 .
2. Planned social events (See Naddy & Co for those) Last minute or organised events seem to be the forum speciality ,now where is the nearest Brewery =)) =))
3. Annual comunication takes time to get wrong give them a chance any faster and everyone will begin to think somethings wrong. =)) ;)
4. Regional organisers need to be appointed or people need to be asked if they will take on this work .(on a personal note I personally put out an appeal for Scottish members to get in touch with me early last year with this in mind ,NEVER got one each area needs a sub comitee one person can not cover large areas on their own.every member is known and where they are from also anyone who wanted to be an area organiser needs to be told these so they can set up said sub comitee.
5. well now thats a leading question .for the club ie you present and all future members of the Vulcan club ,I suspect the annual fee would have to rise to make this viable and probably not just by a small amount .If farces like the pledgeathon are to be avoided every year ..Again on a personal note ,I have seen no evedence of an yincrease in advertising the Vulcan outside Leicestershire ,it is the peoples airoplane they say .Apart from very sparse coverage of any thing to do with XH558 VERY VERY little is known about her up here in Jockland .as far as most of the media is concerned they either don't know por don't care as it's not up here doesn't fly from Aberdeen Inverness Glasgow or Edinburgh so it's not worth covering .This needs to change fast.

6. Members day now can anyone see this getting of the ground I recall something about Duxford last year but believe the cost would have been crippeling .She has to fly out of Brunty at least once this season Why not find out if that take of could be turned into a short display now that she has the permit invite all interested members AT a fee to attend for a short display and club event as she leaves to take part in the initial display of the season .The big question this year that I havent seen an answer to is she going to be hosted by the RAF at stations again this year if so is it in return for use as a recrutment tool .Or is it because as opperational bases they are geared up for and can accomodate any unexpected Maintanance she will hopefully not require this time around.

The above are my thoughts only and not the views of any rational monkey but somewhere in these guesses could lie a partial answer .
In any event I Herein wish XH558 her flight and ground crews a succesfull 2009 .
