Denis strikes again!

I thought he had said categorically that he would leave the the organisation when 558 left Bruntingthorpe! ;)

Good day troops!

Here is my piece:

Denis is arrogant and full of self importance, Dad & I had some interesting dealings with the cretin during our little fund raiser. Although I do not support the project any longer, this isn’t the correct way to act – rather disgraceful and needs to be addressed.

I read Dr. P’s update with interest. He is giving off the ‘panic stations’ spiel that we have heard before - the end is in sight. Neither the Club or the Trust have any initiative in place to garner the public’s attention like last year, just a begging bowl that will simply not be filled.

Ah!! Yes!!
Many remember this book well.

Has many uses.
1. A door stop.
2. Putting under the dinner table leg to stop the thing rocking.
3. A projectile.
5. Because it is so large, a Coffee Tray.

Further suggestions welcome.

Still considering my response to the email request for answers & suggestions; just about got it to 6000 words but a little editing still to go.
Irrespective of the ins and outs regarding the funding shortfall (& let's face it, it ain't a surprise is it?) I think a pledge scheme approach is the only hope; too many people, myself included, will be reluctant to chuck money into the pot without an assurrance that the outcome will be as advertised; a flying vulcan. The pledge scheme would allow you to be confident that a realistic sum has been promised, and that the scheduled work can be completed....what happens to all the money if the project stops? I will pledge if the facility is offered. I won't donate over & above monthly standing order if not.
The past is our history; it dictates our future.....

And perhaps we could get a well known furniture polish firm to back the scheme this time!

I think to be fair it has got to a point where it doesn't matter what they do they will please very few people.

My own personal view is that a pledge scheme is the best, as Igz says, it makes you more comfortable in the knowledge that any donation won't simply go into a black hole. One of the problems this time round is they got hammered in the spring for yet another pledge campaign, so responded by saying they wouldn't do it again. That has left them nowhere to go but ask for straight forward donations.
I see no problem with an annual plea for funds but I think their best chance is running it through out the airshow season where 558 can speak for herself, it certainly wouldn't make the job any harder and as a bonus would mean that hopefully there would be enough money in the pot to start the winter engineering earlier rather than later.

As regards payment - the key posts are full time so can't as suggested elsewhere [other fora] do it for free - they too have mortgages & bills to pay, but as a business they do need value for money!

It would be interesting to see if Wogan auctions the ride with the blades and 558 tomorrow (or is it Wednesday?)............

Have I got hold of the wrong end of the stick with this .someone bid £XX thousands money goes to Children in Need {A very worthy cause and one i like many many others support to the hilt } .The winner turns up on an alloted date to fly alongside 558 the trust then has to pick up the bill for that bit not the BBC and certainly not Children in need .That's money lost to 558 just so they themselves can pay for someones jolly day out at probably more than children in need might get .Bit of a waste in the funds department to be honest .OK you need to spend money to make it but when they are almost telling us that the program is on its last legs through lack of funds .Sod it wheres my phone .
Don't get me wrong I will envy anyone that wins that one unless of course it is me.Only asking because I would like to know who picks up the actual bill for the event .

you need to make an adjustment to your quoting, if you check back, Eceptionalsleeper (Steve) made the statement that you have attributed to me, I agree with it but didn't say it originally!

I think you have got the plot there Jim.

The embarrassment is when 558 ain't there cos the project (god forbid) folded.

According to the Blades website, the prize is being donated by 2Excel and The Blades. There is no attribution (and presumably no cost) to 558.

XM655 has four of them, all serviceable.

Yeah, but they could easily do it along with a paying customers day, so everyone benefits.

They do have more than one plane. Most formation teams do, you know. :p

A pledge scheme won't work as the sponsorship/funding that they have sourced for next season is dependent on having a servicable aircraft, so the undercarriege and spar work needs to be done pre-season to get that cash released, hence us being asked for money rather than pledges.
