We hope to give XM655 an engine run tomorrow IF the planned wet/dry cycles go ok.As you all know No4 engine has been out and checked and refitted and its the first egr we have done since members day last year.IF everything goes ok then we aim to start all four engines and maybe rattle a few windows in the village. ;) :D

Hi all.

We had a good day at Wellesbourne today.
First we wet/dry cycled No 4 engine on the pan and all was well then as we were about to shut down out Houchin power set went u/s.Thanks to the effort's of Derek and Fred they soon had it working and we were able to carry on with the day's planned egr's.We started No4 to check all was well and it performed without fault and after shutting down and a few more check's we started all four engine's and with cruise selected we took each engine up to its govened speed of approx 97.5%.A couple of the engine's did go to 99 % but Sooty plans to tweak them down a touch as 97.5 % is fast enough for us.We ended the day all smile's and went home happy. :D :D

You're welcome. Sorry there are no photos, but we were fairly short-handed, and our usual photographer was rather busy at the AEO's bench.

One thing that hasn't been mentioned so far is the tug. After a bit of TLC to its engine and pneumatics by Phil, Len and Mark a couple of weeks ago, Bovril's pride and joy performed faultlessly. :ymapplause:

Only a few relatively small jobs to do now, and XM655 will be ready for WWW2010. \:D/ \:D/

Sorry about that, lots of wiggly amps to send in the right direction .... I have found this though, taken (with a long lens) from the Touch Down Cafe at the airfield:

It was a great day (after a few Gremlins were attended to).

Next event...... '558 aircrew training day.......more on that soon. :) :) :)

A bit late with the update for yesterday's activities, but we have been at the Boulton Paul Heritage Projects open day today.

We connected our hydraulic rig, and sorted out the final adjustments and testing of the nosewheel steering on the grease-plates. We also adjusted the cruise governor settings on three of the engines following the tests we carried out last week.

Everything was completed OK, and we have now declared XM655 serviceable for the forthcoming XH558 aircrew training.

As it was such a beautiful day, we were able to make progress with the skin repair on the spine, which now only needs a couple of dry Saturdays to complete, and we also repainted a substantial amount of the grey portion of the cammo on the top of the stbd wing.

All in all, another very productive day at Wellesbourne. \:D/ \:D/
