I thought I had read on the VTSC forum a while back that there was allready a 'refurbished' U/C leg due back soon from the place it was being worked. I think one of the forum members worked there or knew somone who did and was going to ask when it would be ready.

Sorry just to add great pictures, keep them coming. :D

The engine inhibiting was done last week. What is happening there is the changing over of the bandoliers which contain silica gel packets. This is to remove any moisture in the intake / engines. These bandoliers are changed over on a regular basis and replaced with fresh ones. The bandoliers are heated in an oven to remove any moisture and make them reusable. After every flight during the display season 2 bandoliers were placed at the front of each engine.

According to a reliable source a new leg is going to be manufactured. All the seals will be reverse engineered.

This may well be a complete misunderstanding of the situation. But the cost of the leg whilst quite steep is actually quite inexspensive when you consider the amount of work involved with one off type manufacturing projects.

Reliable source is unreliable on this occasion!

Think it was Sad Sam who has confirmed on VTTS forum that the replacement leg is a part-used one with 50% of it's life remaining. The cost of producing a new leg would be HUGE!! It's £20k for the strip, overhaul of ancilliaries, reverse manufacture of seals and dressing of the new leg...
