XH558 50th Birthday Appeal (The Positive Thread)

Postby Wedgy » Thu Nov 05, 2009 8:51 am

One quick negative out of the way: As stated in other threads, I (nor IA) will be giving money directly to this appeal, BUT .....

I did a little work for the Appeal pages, I put the Birthday Appeal banner at the bottom of IA this morning and I also have a few bits I might sell on ebay and donate 100% of the bids to 558 (IF they meet a reserve price, otherwise Im keeping them :)) )
Does anyone remember the code for ebay that makes VTTS receive a percentage of the profit? Ive searched TVOC forums to no avail :(

Anyone else doing something other than throwing cold hard cash at them?

All my training courses commence with a shot of 558 lifting off from Brize; it always gives rise to the question 'is that Concorde?' which gives me all the excuse I need to launch into a description of the project & the need for funding :D

I will do my bit where I can.

My monthly standing order stays put.. and I use the forum web shop pretty regularily. I will continue to EDonate when I can afford to. I have been busy dishing out the recent appeal posters and have been in contact with local newspaper and organisers of the 'Bournemouth Air Festival'.

So far - 12 appeal posters sited and on display and an article in Mondays local rag :D

(And yes - Bm'th Air Festival organiser IS aware of the latest appeal - and has fowarded it to all the sponsors of said show ;) )

Ditto, I will still continue my standing order, entry to the FFD, buy stuff from the shop and match any donations to them that I send to H4H, all that I do for my own personal reasons, I would never criticise/condem anyone who felt they cannot do it anymore and neither would I want to appear as if I am bragging that I am doing more/contributing more than others as I know I am not by a long chalk.

Ditto also when I am in a positon to, like Newark Show and Lincoln Market, I will also stand out front of the VTSC tent boring people with my war stories ;) , mind you as said before somwhere, not sure that this is actually a help :D

I'll keep representing the Club at various events - including the next 2 weekends at the Top Gear / MPH shows at Earls Court and the NEC - and working away with V-girl at preparing for the split of the Club into regions so we can provide more for members. Few other things going on which will become apparent when they're definites and ready for public consumption!

From my point of view, my FFD entries and S/O continue unchanged...

I'll probably donate again, but after reading that 'other' funding thread, I'm wondering if I should bother. :(
This is my sig:

I hope it's not too inflammatory and I hope that certain people wont completely misunderstand it like they did with the last one.

I'm actually looking forward to being on the stand at the Lincoln Christmas market, which is strange for me, because I tend to avoid talking to large numbers of people.

But Jane was great with me last year by letting me stay behind the table and just take peoples money ;) :D I'm not confident enough to stand out front.

I'm unable to give financially so it's a good way to help out, taking other peoples money :D =))

So please come along and laugh at our costumes support us \:D/ :D

Is that positive enough? :D
