RAF Lincolnshire.

This is a project I've been working on for a while (couple of years actually ), it's not very comprehensive or anything, I haven't had any tours or anything, but I've been taking some random photos of some of the air bases in Lincolnshire.
It's a work in progress, I've only done a handful, still 30 something to go

Like I said, a work in progress, hoping to add some of Sandtoft/Elsham Wold/Goxhil and N. Killinghome next week (after I visit my best friend).

So to kick it off here's some from a glorious afternoon today at Binbrook.

We ended up on this little track jut past the main N runway that lead to I assume a crash gate for the NE peri track (I'm really not familiar with BB sorry).

Looking N. I was going to walk it, but there were farmers around and I wasn't sure if it was Private so I assumed it was and didn't bother.



Note the new roof after that fire.





Then I saw this.





This is where they dug it up





And the infamous garden lightning

Obviously I wasn't going to trespass on his garden so I got a rubbish shot as we passed by

Oh My God Helen !!! Binbrook CG3?

Oh so many memories. I spent hours/days/weeks there in the 80s. Why don't you send these to the LPG,s "Wall of Fame"? The Norris brothers took most of their vids from CG3.

That Lightning must be Charles Ross's XR725 which is kept in his garden. You could have visited it as his house is also a pretty good museum of Lightning memorabilia.

Is it CG3? I was wondering if it was when I was standing there but as I say I'm not familiar with BB at all, to my knowledge I only went once, long after it closed.
I can see now why CG3 was so popular to view from, just wish I could go back in time
When they've finished harvesting I'm going to sneak back and see if anything is left of the runway

I thought it might have been a light, but didn't want to jump to conclusions


I've added a couple more to it that I took a while ago.
Mainly of North Withem.

Not yet, It's definitely on my list though. (As is the pub The Jug and bottle, which is built on a dispersal and named after the Lancaster that stood there).

Similar to my Nana, only with RAF Skellingthorpe.
She used to count them all going out and coming back again.

My friend had to postpone our dinner date till next week
But as we were going out anyway Mum and I had a lovely dinner at the Pink Pig (near Scunthorpe) and then we had a ride out to Elsham Wolds, Goxhill, North Killingholme and Waltham.

Lots of pics added. Not particularly comprehensive as they're not the easiest of sites to get too as they're private property and I'm not the sort of person to go knocking on doors












I did not get good vibes from this ting,it may have been the debris and rubbish, but I didn't stop long.

And on the way back we past by the NW side of Binbrook, took a long range pic of the hangars and when I looked just now I saw this.



Is it a tail?? if so what?? I know what I think it looks like but I can't believe you can see it from several miles away.

So that's 23 out of 40 something (I forget the exact number) sites done or partially done over the last 2/3 years.

The lightning prop memorial shot & it's circumstances brought a lump to my throat.

As for the tail fin at Binbrook.... Is that a ghost of Lightnings past...?
Keep them comming, and if we ever meet (near a bar) the drinks are on meeeeeee.
