It has taken me 3 days, but I have uploaded everything I have (in reverse alphabetical order because I didn't think it through properly I should have started with Woodhall and worked backwards ), but I feel so much better having them organised

I'd also like to to Google+ well over 1300 photos and it hasn't thrown a wobbly yet

I will see what I have of Coningsby and Cranwell this weekend, and I'll go through my defence/pillbox photos too.
And the rest I just need nice weather for as they require walking
I did some of Woodhall in -1 and I'm not doing that again (probably )

I can'#t wait to look into Fiskerton, I used to roam over it when I was younger(I went to school two villages away), and we got chased off by a farmer for trespassing although at the time it wasn't funny
There used to be a few hidden features round the woods, but I don't know if you can still get to them or if they are still there.

Now Bardney has a really odd atmosphere to it, even my mum commented on it.

yeah it does, I don't like wandering around there as it is
I had a spooky experience there a few years back, I experienced a phantom smell of pipe smoke, it was so strong it made me gag, but disappeared as soon as I smelt it. I have no explanation for it.

I do have a lot of accumulated knowledge of the
publishing industry, but this really isn't in my area.....

Don't believe you would make much if any money
on it, but I DO know there is at least a handful
of military-related publishers in the UK who might
be able to point you in the right direction....

There also might be a preservation society or two
who could use your stuff for fund raising purposes...

If you had a BOOK out, though, who's to say where
it might lead ?

I mean, who else has devoted this amount of time
and effort to this subject????????

Oh, and BTW, I've enjoyed all of it, too !

My reservation with the book idea is that I feel there are people who have posted plenty of similar photos on various fora, and taken them better than I ever could. Not to mention some of them have better access to sites (with and with out permission ).
For now I'll leave them as albums.

I found a box of acetates from my college days, back when we had to do all our presentations on over head projectors.
And I had a little play with the bomb stores at Skellingthorpe, my poor friend has no idea what she's in for when she visits next month





I tried the same for Woodhall, but the scale didn't match up(Skellingthorpe doesn't either, but it worked better than Woodhall).

Had a lovely evening walk through Ostler's Plantation (also known as RAF Woodhall spa bomb stores) this evening.

All 105 new photos are in the Woodhall Spa album (link above).

I will share these few though.

I went to find the dispersals. In two of the dispersals were these........









The 1st one was in one dispersal and the other two were together in a different dispersal, although to be fair there could have been 2 in the 1st, I just never thought to look.
This gives an idea of the location, the other thing is the other side of that tree.


I'll be honest, I haven't got a clue what they are or if they are anything interesting, I just have a thing for original features


And I found my first shelter










I also found a drain in the taxi way, but I don't know if it's original or not.




I'm looking down runway 24/06 here, although I'm pretty sure I wasn't meant to be stood here .

There was also a lot of large lumps of concrete, possibly taxi/peri track but could have been runway, I'll never know.

I've looked into it, It sounds like the RAF museum may have them, but it would mean a trip to London to look through their reading room/archives and considering I can count how many times I've been to London on one hand, I can't see it happening
I was meant to go to an open day at the Lincoln archives back in March, as they had a special RAF in Lincolnshire day, but I forgot


It is a shame as I would dearly love the site plans for Bardney, Dunholme Lodge and Fiskerton.


Wickenby has a version of a plan on the wall in the control tower/museum.


And there's a RAF Bardney and 9 squadron museum room at the old train station in Bardney, they might have the site plans there,but I've never been, I will go one day though.



I love looking for this stuff, there's nothing more geekier than getting lost in the woods (happened twice to me yesterday ) and fighting brambles and bracken and getting your hair caught in tree branches (but that may just be me ).
And I kept dreaming about that shelter last night, had some really weird dreams about it.
