RAF North Witham Control Tower.

I've just been reading that the Control tower at N. Witham is due to be demolished which I'm pretty upset about.

I don't know what good it will do but someone set up a petition, which I've signed, if anyone else wants to too it's here....

As you can see, it does need work doing to it, and there's no easy way inside (that I could find, I wasn't prepared to go mountain climbing over those tires, they looked deadly to me), but I don't think it's ready to be demolished. It didn't look too bad to me, other than there are no steps.
So I hope it can be saved, don't know how but it's sad if they do bulldoze it as there aren't that many left and this one is pretty significant, even if it doesn't get acknowledged much.

It just sounds like the forestry commission (who own the wood) want it gone, I know nothing more, neither does anyone else by the sounds of it.


A little back ground to where it is located, it's on the edge of woodland which was planted end of the 50's, it's just outside the Witham military surplus place (that was on Top Gear once, where they borrowed stuff to knock down some houses). So it's not like it's going to be a housing estate as there's nothing else there, just trees.

Interesting but sad too,I suspect the decision to total it is a safety issue !

TBH I think that by the look of it its time to say goodbye to it. Heritage just for the sake of it is kinda wasteful, if the buiding is of no use then it would be far better to clear the site for nature to reclaim it, a bit like aircraft you cant save them all, sad but true.
