Engineering Connections - Airbus A380

Presenter Richard Hammond looks at engineering goals and achievements and how they were brought about by technological innovation. Richard discovers how a 19th-century rocket, a bicycle pump and an ancient Mongol bow all helped in the design of the double-decker Airbus A380.

Saw this a few weeks back on one of the Discovery channels. It's quite good, but he does labour the point a bit. Yes, cut to the chase won't you?! Winglets, carbon-fibre reinforced aluminium, we know! We guessed what it was 10 minutes ago, but you're still beating about the bush with your televisual demonstrations!

well Mr Tim - i learned quite a bit from it! most of us knew about carbon-fibre reinforced aluminium, but i never knew about GLASS-reinforced ally! :-o

i was thinking, whilst watching - that's EXACTLY what 558's Education Programme needs to be!

excellent programme i thought! :)
