A real shame, very good to see that they are being open and honest about it and how they plan to get her back in the air!

Don't forget, a big chunk of the Connies
produced were for the US Air Force and
US Navy!

Long before AWACS, there was Willie Victor!

Many of them based in UK!

Danf.

EDIT::::::::::::::::

Well, perhaps not UK based, but they would have
certainly stopped-over quite a bit.......

Anyone remember them? They must have been
fairly common 50s, 60s, 70s.......

Typical radial sounds like a bunch of nuts and bolts trying to agree which way to go inside a bucket. Sounds the same as my Ducati clutch basket rattle, lovely! :D

Hi guys, I'm new on this site and just wanted to introduce myself. I've enjoyed reading your posts about the Lockheed Constellations. I'm currently working for Lufthansa Technik in Auburn, ME on "Project Superstar". We're restoring a 1957 model 1649A Super-Connie. I must say, in my 35 years as an aircraft structures mechanic, this job is by far the most interesting.
We rolled her into a new hangar built just for this project in November of '08 and alot has happened since then. I've taken hundreds of photos showing various stages of her restoration. Most of these photos show structure work that I and my co-workers have been busy with. I must say, ...one just doesn't appreciate how much aluminum structure (of every shape imaginable) and rivets go into such a large old aircraft as this.
Yes indeed, ...we have alot of work to do.

As I said somewhere else CR, please post these photos and talk us through the restoration.

We are all on this website because we love to see, and hear about Iconic Aircraft like the Connie.. ;)
