Yes it is because the newspapers and the initial TV pictures seemed to show an aircraft that was "beached" but it wasn't it was caught by a fast flowing river current. It is lucky it was on a short internal flight so the wing tanks were mainly buoyancy chambers and the ferry skippers were so quick off the mark. The first ferry docking could have been a disaster if it had collided with the wing of the 320 knocking dozens of passengers into the very cold Hudson River.

quite an astonishing programme all-in-all.

i had, until last night, thought that it was largely due to being bloody lucky - not so it would appear it was purely a cracking pilot 'working the problem' B-)

In THAT case, I hereby nominate Ye Rt.
Hon. Capt. Sullenberger for Honorary

Anyone care to second that?

well the fact that he kept his tie on (and not even loosened!) right up until he got ashore is a rather Limie thing to do! =))

Yes I agree - I think that qualifies him as an honorary Brit :D
His co-pilot even gave his shirt to a passenger to keep him warm - admirable :ymapplause:

Here's Capt. Sullenberger on Television
this morning. Sorry about the commercial....

An amazing feat of piloting still -- 9 months later.
