Perpignan A320 crash - final report

Postby Sooty655 » Fri Sep 17, 2010 8:07 pm

The final report into the XL Airways A320 crash at Perpignan has been released.

Makes sobering reading. :(

One Olympus 301 has twice the power of a complete F1 starting grid.
XM655 has four of them, all serviceable.

You, too. Bugger :D

Read it now, and yes, intersesting. Reminds me of the commercial that crashed because the pitots were taped up for cleaning, and not removed afterwards.

I think you mean this one. Certainly similar in the initial fault being caused by inadequate/incomplete cleaning procedures, but there is a lot less blame attached to the pilots, compared to the Perpignan accident.

Yet again the weak link in the cockpit turns out to be the squidgy organic bit with no failsafe.

Plus some of the other squidgy organic bits let loose with spanners.

Unfortunately, and sadly, infallibilty is not yet part of the human condition :(

Stephen Fry calls the human bit "wetware", as opposed to hardware or software - seems appropriate.

Except one, claimed but un-proven.

Perhaps we should all fly Vatican Airways. ;)
