BA retrojet G-CPET.

Postby Trident man » Tue Oct 05, 2010 11:44 am

Hi all, as BA are ending their 757 operations at the end of this month after 27 years we have a wonderfully painted 757 in the Negus & Negus scheme of the time when 757 first appeared in 1983 with the bold British titles........enjoy :D

Now I feel old - went to my first Farnborough show in '82 as a 12 year old and saw the 757 and 767 put through their paces with impressive verve.

Lots of Tonkas on show that year too!

looks lovely - is it going to be preserved anywhere? - seems silly to paint it then dispose of it

Andy sadly she will not be preserved. The aircraft has been sold to Fedex for conversion to a freighter although the aircraft will be parked up at Hethrow for a few months until she goes in for the conversion works.

That's a shame she's being sold. I see she's heading to Edinburgh too on last day - might nip over :)

Thanks Neil - pity but al least she will carry on working rather than ending up as scrap. I remember seeing the first 757s as they entered service, got some old pics somewhere if I can find them. If I can get away from a meeting in time may pop up Saturday pm to see the last departure, will bring back a few memories.
