Nicest Connie in the World!!!!!!!!!

Postby Dan4th » Sun Jul 24, 2011 11:37 pm

The Airline History Museum in Kansas City
has the nicest Lockheed Constellation in the
World.

Here she is..........

(...sorry about the music...)

Many people gave money and donated hours
and hours of work to see this aircraft FLY!

Instead, they bought an L-1011.

I am happy they saved the L-1011, but I am
SO ANGRY this Connie isn't in the air where
she belongs!!!!!!!!!!!!

You're right about the plane and the music. She looks superb in that livery.

She is Magnificent!!!!!!!!!!

And about 95% ready to fly.....

The FAA themselves have asked them
why the aircraft isn't being flown!

Here's a longer vid, also with music problems,
but the music stops fairly quickly..........

Nice views of the control surfaces being
worked, etc.

I guess the Museum Board is claiming corrosion
issues, however it seems they are in truth very
minor ones......

They are Looking for Excuses to not fly her!

This Connie has the lowest-timed airframe out
there, and she also has a complete, authentic
interior.

Thank You for Tolerating my Obsession!!!!!!!!

Absolutely brilliant. :ymapplause: :ymapplause: :ymapplause: Another ' headphones at max volume ' moment for me

I even like Strauss' Also Sprach Zarathustra intro. Always reminds me of 2001: A Space Odyssey.

Great find Dan4th. I share your obsession with the SuperConnie.

D4th, she's a beauty, hard to believe they are "RELUCTANT" to put her back in the air! :-o

Well, as is usual with this kind of thing,
there are all sorts of rumo(u)rs floating
around concerning this situation.....

I truly do not know for certain what is
going on, but I do feel that her owners/
keepers are NOT doing what they ought.

People who know more than do I about
things Constellation seem to be fairly
unanimous in their scorn for the Kansas
City people.

Unless there is a change in attitude, I
doubt she will ever fly again, no matter
how many people world-wide would love
to see this happen.

As I said before, I believe the board
members are actively seeking reasons
to NOT fly this aircraft........

The money and sponsors are OUT there, too........

Four-part vid of the Kansas City Constellation
on her way to JFK in 2000 for the 75th B-day
of Trans World Airlines..........

Lowest-timed airframe, only survivor which
was actually an airliner and not military, and
the only one with an actual, authentic interior.

My favo(u)rite thing is right at the end
of Part the Third when an older groundcrew
member says to a younger one: "This is a
Real Aircraft, Tony!"

Check THIS out!!!!!!!

1994, and I'm sure our FAA was NOT amused!

And an O-L-D vid of her rescue from the scrapper
in 1985 and return to flight........

This is why I am so wound-up about her current
status. Many people gave of their time and their
bank accounts to keep this aircraft flying. Politics
and a degree of incompetance glued her to the
tarmac. It remains to be seen if she will ever fly
again!

I am praying that this meeting at the
end of January will include some kind
of announcement concerning the KC
Constellation's return to flight!

http://www.ahmhangar.com/journal/2012/1/5/major-announcements-planned-during-nahm-meeting-and-dinner-j.html

Not holding my breath, though...........

I want everyone to scroll back up to the
first of the two vids I posted and watch
it at least twice.

Murkin LOONIES!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Airline History Museum held their annual
meeting on Saturday Night in Kansas City,
and while no major announcements were
made of imminent Constellation flights,
they DID name a Chief Pilot for their Connie!

This is excellent news which bodes well for
what is a superb aircraft........

Maybe I WILL start holding my breath!

I am happy to post-up the following:::::::::::::

http://www.conniesurvivors.com/1-connie_news.htm#SEP04

Corrosion was the excuse for many years
for not even trying to fly this aircraft, and
I am ecstatic to finally know for certain
that this was a Load of Crap :D

Can't WAIT for First Flight!

WOO HOO!!!!!!!!!

This aircraft is, after all, stored inside
all nice and warm except when they
do engine runs.....

Corrosion?

What's Corrosion???????????

I think perhaps some people began to
view this Constellation as a THING
rather than as a FLYING MACHINE :D
