:)) I don't half get confused by all these 7?7 a/c. Perhaps if I understood the numbering system it would help!!

Looks good tho' I like the paint job.

If the Boeings confuse you, don't buy a Peugeot. :))

So just how are you confused by a numerical system? :-o

707, 727, 737, 747, 757, 767, 777 and now 787! Just the Murkins keeping things simple! :ymapplause:

There was! The wiki is here.

There is a photo somewhere on the net of all the Boeing models from 707 through to 777 lined up (at Heathrow, I think).

Edit: Found it.

It was at Boeing Field, not Heathrow.

Actually, Mercedes Numericals are WAY
more confusing than Peugeot (or Boeing...)

My three "Pugs" consisted of two 504s, a
wagon/estate and a sedan (both diesel), and
a 505 sedan (gasoline/petrol). GREAT Cars!

Do NOT ask me the letters after the numbers.....

My MBs were all oil burners.

1966 200D sedan purchased from one of my
college professors, a 220D sedan from a "friend",
and a 300TD wagon/estate with astronomical
mileage but solid as a rock. Also GREAT Cars!

I wish I had still had all of them, but that's just
silly.......

I'll bet GAZ could break it!

Three different British carriers have ordered
the 787: BA, Virgin and one of the charter
operators.

I read somewhere that the Virgin aircraft will
include some Very Special Features!

That's all I know, it was just a broad hint with
a wink from a press release........

Don't like bendy wings - doesn't look right, especially as they are held together with glue.

Just wondering how long before either one falls out of the sky, or they are grounded because of fatigue. Wouldn't be the first time young fellers with 'pooters have cocked up. A computer is only as good as the data it is fed. They said Thalidomide was OK, The Titanic, The Comet etc. Only birds should have flappy wings - and yes, I know that flex is designed into metal wings.

The Mossie's wings didn't flap about like a demented pigeon's.

If this airliner is not successful, surely it will be the end for Boeing. They have already written off billions of dollars due to at least 8 unsaleable so-called 'Test' aircraft that will never meet the original specification.

Innovative and radical design using un-proven materials and new engines, usually spells bad news for aircraft manufacturers.

Fingers crossed for 26/11/2011 when All Nippon Airways are due to receive the first 'in-service' 787. ;)

They already have at least their first one,
and it's in Japan undergoing pre-intro trials....

I think the date you quote is for the first
regularly scheduled flight.

I'm not as pessimistic due to all the rigors
they've been through to date. Not like the
"Old Days"........

I have faith it will prove better than fine in
service.

Correct, that is what I meant by 'In Service', rather than just Test Flights ;)

As an ex-Risk Management Consultant I would love to know what insurance premium loadings have been applied to this aircraft. If BA or Virgin do go ahead with their orders I wonder what they are being asked to pay , annually - up front for TP liability cover?

In the 150% wing load test, applied for only 3 seconds, the wingtips moved upwards by 25 feet. Curiously these wings were not then tested to destruction... unlike all other FAA certified airliners. Why not??

I do hope it is a success, but I won't be flying on one.

This aircraft has been tested to an
unprecedented degree -- one of the
reasons for delays in production and
delivery.

I would fly on this aircraft tomorrow!

(...if they asked me...)

Are you taking a "wait and see", Ian?

Or would you Never fly on one?

I predict smooth sailing.

We Shall See!
