not really - Britannia was 1950s, but was a hugely successful airliner and (for its time) one of the quietest airliners - known as "The Whispering Giant"

VC10 and Concorde were obviously both 1960s a/c, but both WAY ahead of their time - Concorde for obvious reasons, but VC10 for its highly advanced nav and autopilot systems - one of the very first a/c capable of autoland.

the BAC 1-11 was really the first "bus service" jet, and sold very well around the world, particularly in the US. despite being another 1960s a/c, the last 1-11s in European skies only retired in the early 2000s, and even then only because of new noise regulations. some are still in daily pax service around the world - a rare example of a purely British a/c being highly successful and profitable. B-)

allairliners are very muh the same these days, coming into service within an already well-established industry - not the case back in the days when the likes of VC10 and BAC1-11 were thought of - in many respects, airliners such as these actually defined the layout and opertaion of today's airports, and what direction the industry itself took.

and apart from anything else - they are nice and noisey! :D

It's got to be the 737

Only joking :)) Really it is the VC10 and Concorde. Todays planes are much of a muchness although I was impressed by the A380 at Farnborough. Chiefly for its size.

This is a very difficult vid to locate. ENJOY!

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=xbWA0sTX ... re=related

This is the one that was SUPPOSED to appear in UK this past summer.

It seems that EU Aviation Authority only has to be accountable to
itself! They don't want this aircraft to ever leave the ground!

SHITHEADS!!!!!!!!!!!!!

are most like the British! At least, that's what EYE think........

Coming up, I'm going to be asking you guys to be doing something, but don't
worry! It doesn't involve MONEY! You also might actually ENJOY it......

Well, here's what I want you all to do, and I think you'll actually enjoy
DOING it!

Go Here: http://www.conniesurvivors.com/

This is a one-man website done by my pal Ralph Pettersen. In my own
very humble opinion, it is the BEST Constellation site out there. Also,
he knows more about what's going on than anyone else.

Have a look. There're HOURS of stories and information on there.

Lately, I've been trying to get him to post-up more vids, etc., and
I think he'll even be adding a Forum in the near future.

MOST IMPORTANT! Go to the bottom of the Homepage and send Old
Ralph a message with your comments. Also, keep the address in your
personal list and visit back when you can, okay?

It can get lonely running a one-man website. If you love me at all, you
will do this. He gets Australia, US, Canada, Holland, Switzerland, but
not much UK if any at all. Plus, any Constellation Qs, he's the one with
the answers!

Ralph has been warned, btw, and you WILL receive a reply!

Don't let me down, you Limey Bastards! (...and, of course, Bastardettes...)

Murkin Bastard;

Dan4th

EDIT: OOOPS! Forgot to say "Magnificent" before "Limey".

Sorry..................

i did indeed look at his website, and you're right - it's brilliant!

i never knew just how many Connies were still flying, or just how many still survive in such good condition. stacks to read and digest on there - too much for one visit. :p

a real shame that we don't have a flying Connie over here - but then the good old Dutch might bring theirs over one day :)

cracking site D4th
