Looking at the -8F I would say as long as people want to fly long distances safely and in comfort ...That is one great looking airliner. As much as I loved to hear and photograph Concorde; it really was a 'dead end' project.

BTW Danforth, have you come across the Boeing vid showing one of the test pilots landing at maximum sink rate ie the aircraft didn't flare out but was just flown straight onto the runway and the wings flexed by an enormous amount?

No I haven't, but I would LOVE to see it!

I've been on at least two commercial flights
where the pilot had to just "stick it".....

On one of those, the entire planeload of
passengers just burst into applause because
we all knew what a difficult landing it had been!

I will NEVER forget that one, winter of 1988 in
Philadelphia on Delta....

Iced-up runway, too!

And it was WIND-EEEEEEEEEEE

Thanks, Ian, I hadn't ever seen that.....

I was fortunate enough to fly on a 747
twice in their first year of service.

Both Pan Am, to and from Netherlands,
12/1970 and 02/1971.

All except the return flight only got as
far as Heathrow

BOAC VC-10 picked-up the slack for my
return to BOS

Strange thing is that both flights were
at about half capacity with lots of room
to move about and see the aircraft....

Those Were The Days!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Recently here in the USA a union effort
drove a large corporation out of business
and announced that it was a VICTORY!

A victory for whom, may I ask?

I believe labo(u)r unions ought to exist
and bargain and serve their members,
but all this adversarial stuff is just too
much

Same the world over, it would seem.

My in laws both work for the local government and they've had their pension pot cut, quite a bit

I'm not positive, but I believe the
percentages quoted by the union
are relative to their own proposal
and not to the existing agreement....

It seems Boeing is willing to make
increases, just not as much as the
union would like.....

And this contract would not affect
those already vested and retired, I
don't think....that's not legal.

I just hope they work things out....
