Or the Uniden equivalent, the Bearcat UBC-92XLT

I'm still undecided myself, but it'll have to wait until I get a job :( .

Doesn't look like that one has the Military frequencies available. Think I'm set on the 295 now, so will be ordering tonight.

EDIT - PURCHASED. Radios-uk.com had it the cheapest at £118.50 + £6.50 postage.

This arrived yesterday. Smaller than I thought it would be, which is nice. Didn't have time to have a play last night though, but bought some batteries from Tesco this morning, so will be having a fiddle in my car at lunch, so to speak. MATRON!

Got all channels locked when I turned it on, hit scan and kept getting the same, tried function and Lock out as per the book and nothing and then tried a fine tune and ran out of time and haven't heard anything yet. HELP!

I started too, I just found it all a bit confusing to be honest. I'll spend more time on it tonight and see what happens.

I'm just not the most patient of people with technology. I buy it, I turn it on, I expect it to work within seconds!! :ymblushing:

Oh - and with the money I saved I bought myself a Watson W901 Airband Helical Antenna :p :D
Designed to fit on any handheld radio that covers the airband frequencies.
This antenna is carefully tuned to give optimum performance on the military and civil bands.
It is an ideal accessory to use with the wide band scanning receivers to ensure maximum performance on the airbands.

What I need now is a copy of this Airwaves 2010 ;)

OK, I've programmed in the main radar's close to where I live for Civilian, Bristol, Cardiff approaches, radar and towers. I can pick up the radar's easily enough and get plenty of coverage, just need to get all my Fairford, Brize ones sorted for this week, however, despite reading the manual I'm still not able to press the scan key without it saying "All channels locked" and then when reading the how to unlock process I'm still totally baffled by it!!

It's not too much of an issue as I will group all my Fairford ones for Thursday to Saturday together and leave it on Approach or tower, but it'd be nice to be able to hit the scan button and let it check all my pre-programmed channels.

I'm sure they'll be some around who will be willing to help Brian -

I asked a guy at the wave at Waddington on the Tuesday before the air show & on the Saturday was sat between 2 guys who I asked photography questions of, all 3 of them were really helpful & made for a really pleasant 2 days talking to them.

Sorry, another novice question.....

Been on a couple of sites and found a few frequencies for Fairford, but not being 100% sure on what I'm doing still, does anybody know the most up-to-date place to get the right ones from or actually know what they will be on for 2010?

Cheers

On that last one just type 'Fairford' in the search box and Robert's your father's brother ;)
