hmmmmmmm - obviously experimental - and probably from the 1950's judging from the picture

could be any of a handful of manufacturers but I'll have a stab at DH? looks like the sort of thing they'd try.

educated guess, going on what i presume the rough wing profile to be - DH108? i know they messed with wing fences and stuff so could be...

ok I'll shut up now =))

ok - I'll go with my first instinct, although i couldn't think of why it'd be right...........

is it an Avro Vulcan? =))

gotta be tail-less surely? otherwise why the variable control wingtips???

Nope not a Vulcan
It was experimental you are right on that one..
It did have links to the V-Bomber requirement B35/46 in particular..

Victor then? B35/46 seems to have been to do with only Vulcan and Victor ~x(

Nope not Victor...

Another clue

It was the first powered aircraft to employ the "aero-isoclinic" wing.

Re: Identify the Aircraft

Postby Saracenman » Mon Feb 02, 2009 9:27 pm

well that meant nothing to me so i had to look up what it meant =))

the only thing that comes close is the Short's Sherpa? although i can't see any relationship with V-bombers. it is tail-less though which seems to fit ~x(

otherwise I'm completely stumped :(

edit - aha! wiki thinks i'm right too \:D/

I know EXACTLY what it is, but I ain't replying
because I am incapable of posting piccies.

Its initials, though, are shared with one of
YOUR great companies, those being "RR".

Murkin production, though, and one of those
that REALLY ought to have been built in
quantity!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Dan4th

EDIT: How about this aircraft having the possibility
to do New York to London in slightly more than
Eight Hours in 1948!
