Thanks D.T. via Mayfly for a excellent posting it reminded me of 40 years ago on an OCU coarse having problems with the approach,my instructor had the patience of a saint, I got there eventually.

Really interesting stuff. Sounds like it would be tricky landing with U/S airbrakes - was that ever practiced I wonder - probably? Also wonder how this compares with the other famous (no airbrakes) delta.

Don't know about practice for failures, but I can tell you the airbrakes can be driven by either of two independent electric motors, and they are each tested separately before take-off.

XM655 has four of them, all serviceable.

Just asked the question Mags, yes it was practised - made it more difficult to control the speed but wasn't too much of a problem :D

Or attached too? Very comfy in there mate?

I really, thoroughly enjoyed that snippet of information from DT and thank you Pam for being tea lady and making it a reality :D
He is, of course absolutely right re: uni or joining the RAF (whilst we still have one) THE best place to learn and we do it so well.
It is far too late for me but if he would like to stretch his powers I obviously would be the prime candidate (I don't know why, I just am ok) as a student. He can think of me as Luke Skywalker and himself as the Grand Master (as we all know he is).

I shall from this day be known as Obi Wanker Noobi.

=)) How do you DO that? :p Lager and Cider now :D

I was actually being serious (sort of). You can't blame me for trying to bag some flying lessons from a brilliant pilot and instructor (the fact he doesn't fly now is irrelevant. I can be very persuasive).

Show him my post's Pam. He will feel sorry for me =))

XPL. Pam (or a grown up) would ban me ;)
