If he needs a passenger, you know where to find me. My mates would be sooooo jealous that I could brag to have flown with the legendary DT! :D

Yeah. They could even remake the Dambusters using them!

Mayfly, did DT ever get to do this?

http://news.bbc.co.uk/1/hi/uk/7405514.stm

As for him flying JJ - well, we still need somone around who is proficient (understatement) on 'both' Avro types for that special flypast again. There may well be enough pilots to fill the slots in Lincolnshire - but I would be bold enough to say that 'DT' is probably one of the most well known and popular.

Fingers crossed, that twinkle in his eye was what we hope it was.

He has done a Dambusters run before but I don't think ever in the Lanc. - he was going to take me for a trip in Tucano down Lady Bower but unfortunately the weather wasn't good enough & we ended up flying over Yorkshire :((

Not sure if he's done a DB run or not- I hoped he would take me for a trip in Tucano down Lady Bower but unfortunately we ended up flying over Yorkshire :((

I see the Pantons have placed Just Jane on the civil register G-ASXX and applied for a P to F.

Not sure what the second bit means - I assumed she would have to have an in depth service before being granted a P to F, so I suspect it means they have started the process for gaining one..

Ooooo goody :D \:D/

She now has has 3 overhauled engines as well, so it all seems to suggest they really are serious about it :D

But I'll not camp out at the end of the runway just yet ;) :))

I was very impressed when I made my first (and only) visit two years ago and read their book.

Recently I thought I would like to do a taxi run and was puzzled when there were only a couple of dates available in March. Then I read it properly; March 2012!

Looks like I'll need to get in quick when dates for 2012 are available before work starts.
I'd rather be skiing

I take it they must have got the planning permission to extend the existing runway [not the grass strip at the museum site but the old USAF extension on the otherside of the airfield] by the CAA required 4000ft [taking it to 6000ft] :-?

No , they will tow her across the grass strip like when they got her tail up for the 1st time [2004 IIRC] using the USAF extension , seen here briefly in this vid from 0:09 - 0:17 ;)

the Lancaster mid upper turret arrived today :-) the aircraft has been without one since the French used the aircraft in the 1950's.
