She's off, just a few minutes ago.....

The flight control people were unable
to conceal their emotions over the
intercoms.........

It is, after all, a Sad Day in many ways........

I watched the last twelve or so minutes with
a brief hold at 00:31, and there were two
people, a man and a woman, who's transmissions
were caught over the broadcast -- I don't think
they were aware of being listened to.

Their back-and-forth with the crew was very
businesslike, but the emotion in both of their
voices was hard to miss.

I'll see if I can't find it..........

As I say, a sad day for many at NASA.

Get in quick - over at NASA TV. Final seperation burn is starting from the ISS. Back on the ground on Thursday. It all feels so similar to the end of Concorde. Great aircraft, with potential to carry on. All finished with nothing now in the pipeline to superceed it (of comparable or greater performance).

Another 'end of an era' moment. :(
