Nice find Minty, that pilot deserves special treatment! :ymapplause:

I'll bet the captain got on the intercom and
ordered all Pax to the extreme rear of the
cabin :p

They built them tough back then!

Can't imagine too many 727's are still operating?

According to Flight Global's last census in
2008, there were roughly 500 of the 1,931
total built still in service. So about 1/4 or
so still flying......

Applause for the pilot, but why was there no foam on the runway? He had already flown a pass, and this was supposedly a "planned" emergency landing. :-o :-o

Apart from the Daily Mail's woeful spelling of 'breaks' (sic), I was amazed to read the aircraft had "94 passengers and 19 crew aboard"..... 19 crew? - their duty free sales targets must be seriously high.

Judging by the background of that vid, they
seem to have a nice, large stock of grounded
747s there in Tehran!

I'm amazed - no doubt many have been re-engined (noise restrictions) and converted into cargo aircraft operating with smaller carriers.

I'd love to see that, it would need a BRAVE pilot though! =))

That was also my first thought on seeing the vid. I thought it was standard procedure in situations like this. :-o

Good job by the pilot though. :ymapplause:

Well, Boeing did over-build them due to
the lack of general experience with aircraft
of that configuration at that time

I guess the undercarriage especially is known
for its tough, rugged nature.......despite the
problems in Tehran.

I have flown on many a 727, some of which
were a little rough around the edges. Never
worried, though.

throw him in prison!
