that dire.

It would have become evident far earlier
than now, and Lockheed knows how to

So did Hawker D4th, now British Aerospace. Apparently so well that the US Marines bought all our old and new Harrier fleet, which of course can land on anything, from our dumb politicos for peanuts.

Sooner we dump the project the better. We could re-call and re-fit the redundant carriers and build new Harriers in only a couple of years and have adequate money over to build a carrier capable of handling a Sea Typhoon variant and probably a supersonic Harrier variant too.After all our aerospace is doing nothing else anymore.

Yes, I must stop that, folk may start taking me seriously .

What fool gives away his ability to strike from the sea without the replacement being a proven operating system. Thats what we have done. Our MOD has failed us and our politicians have totally lost the plot.

As for F-35 I suspect the chunks made here are a bit like little bones thrown to the dogs and certainly won't challenge us as a former world leader in aerospace, or keep us at the front of technology. Making bits won't sustain a national aircraft industry. And where I wonder will the aircraft be built, not I suspect in the UK. Ardent supporter of the colonies and our brothers across the sea I may be, but I suspect we have given away more than we will get back and the US industry has administered yet another giant bass broom suppository to the UK aircraft industry.

Time we made another great British plane while we still are capable of original engineering thought. Frankly. I think we are done for and amount to little more than parts makers and end product buyers. How the mighty are fallen.
