I'm always amazed at that the same line 'They only hit the runway with 1 bomb' is touted out over and over. Why would you want to destroy something you know you will need yourself God willing in the future? The Falklands was a multi faceted operation of which all played their part.

Especially when that was built in to the planning for the mission. The whole point of the chosen attack direction was that one of the 21 would hit the runway.

The fact it was the first bomb suggests they were a bit fast and/or high and/or late, but the fact it was only one was DELIBERATE !!!!!!! ~x( ~x(

Mission accomplished of 2 fronts;
1 Runway denial
2 Argentina realising the the mainland could be attacked and they then chose to keep their fighters back for air defence purposes.

Job's a good un.

The wing and a prayer bit................ Well they had to do something otherwise there would have been a gap in the Sunday night TV schedules 30 years down the line. Now THAT'S forward planning. =))

great program , I've also recorded it in order to watch again when the wife goes out, she kept looking at her watch in anticipation of "UPSIDE DOWNSTAIRS" as I call it! I'm visiting "Welly" in June with my old car hoping to get up close to the delta bird,

I thought it was brilliant. One of those things that although you know a great deal about it, you don't know it all and I found it extremely interesting.

Was it a coincidence that the 'ashtray' in the Officer's Mess was nearly emptied out onto a plate of Jaffa Cakes? :p

Don't know where they came from. The scene was filmed at Wellesbourne, and we favour Av's excellent cakes, or failing that, chocolate chip cookies. :)) :))
