I see you spotted the mistake, only noticed that a few days ago! It kept snapping off and needing more glue, and just when I thought it was sorted... it's backwards ~x(

Sorry Oli I was not sure if I was right just would not want a lovely diorama being out of running for a possible prize (if there are some) for something that others/judges will notice, but I am confident that with the skills you have shown it will not be to difficult to fix before the competition. It also keeps me looking at how to do my aircraft in their display cases with runway and ground equipment around them.

Don't worry, it's actually helpful to see that someone noticed it!

However I can't fix it without risking the whole rotor breaking... it's held up by a tiny piece of model filler! I'll just leave it and hope they don't notice!

congrats on your win, mind you I should think with this forum and your interests in aircraft and the photos you have posted that would be a good one for you :ymapplause:

I was never any good at spotting even when I was in, two examples were one at RAF Waddington a few years ago with two brother in laws and they kept asking what each aircraft was and when I said "how would I know" I got the response "but you were in the RAF, you should know" (they were not even british aircraft), the other was in a Chinook flying in Germany and I was helping with look out for two fast jets that were same height coming from behind and on our right side, when I saw them I told the pilot that the two Tornados were spotted at 4 o-clock, his response was "they are F16's" my response was "I am ground crew not aircrew, they are stil fast jets and at least I spotted them first" which caused much chuckling from front end. :)

Why is it wrapped in bandages?

Tarps put over the nose, tail turret and engines, but over time they've blown loose or helped off by souvenir hunting scamps! What the pic doesn't show is the ropes hanging from them and the fact that they dangle, if that makes sense...

It does make perfect sense and now you intend to re-use it in a diorama! I look forward to seeing the pictures when it's done! ;)

Ok Gaz, have lurked for some time:

Models I have to build in 1/48 Scale: Hunter, Lightning & Jet Provost T5/T5A- in 1/24 The Spitfire and in progress the Chinook 1/48 (18 Sqn Anniversary Edition) of which are a few photos, I am waiting for some new Dremel bits and paint to carry on some more the detail sets are a lot better in 1/48 scale as you can see most of them:

Thanks for the comments, I am having a bit of fun with this one as it is an interesting challenge with all the Eduard detail sets I have for it and I still don't know how the heck to paint the red and black bits at the back end, there are some decals but I think they may cover the grilles I have added, so air brushing might be a better option.

Gaz: you should start building your Valiant and get posting stages of build even if you do what I do and fit a bit in every so often.

Xpl: I decided to make my own sound proofing to cover the avionic cupboard & heater compartment (got the idea from a modelling forum somewhere).

Quick update, painted the green all over, joined it all together and just starting to fill in the odd gap, add some more Eduard detail bits, then sort out the full paintwork, decals, but all that will take a while.

Very nice!

Italeri 1:72 Tornado GR4, nearing completion

It would seem the paint is almost perfect "Airfix" grey. It's had one coat of paint, honest!

Decided against the Valiant. I'd want it with my (Cursed) Victor and, at the minute, I haven't got the space for them both

That's coming on well Gaz, I find at my age 1/72 is a tad small for me. you could always try a bit of 8 lb breaking strain fishing wire and do this:

Just got to watch out if the window is open and it is windy, or on a sunny day turn the ceiling fan on :D

Just realised why my Chinook did not quite look right, all the windows are too low with the bottoms right down by the side tanks, that means the decal/red paint line won't fit, what is it with model manufacturers that get the basics wrong X(
