No surprises really, just another shady deal going on in the tradition of our aircraft industry being destroyed by our Government and the US aircraft industry. We flog US all our Harriers for the price of one, agree to scrap the Nimrod 4 just as it is finally sorted in exchange for yet another dodgy old Yank aircraft dragged out of the desert. Obviously hugh bungs will have changed hands to help "fascilitate" the sale.
I don't blame the US aircraft barons, they are simply being the business "sharks" they always are, I blame the mentality of our politicians who have failed to support our own once proud world leading industry, now reduced to a maker of parts for other countries.
We are now probably incapable of building a serious offensive military aircraft of our own origin, you won't see the French doing that. You won't see the US buying anything new and UK originated either, their lobby would simply cry foul and get any order cancelled like they did with the tanker fiasco. Sad, sad, sad.
