Help with identification

Postby Panel 10 » Thu Oct 30, 2008 11:34 pm

Hi, I'm going mad trying to remember an aircraft. Anyone who saw 'Golden Eye' may remember in the opening shots, JB yes im, used a single prop aircraft for his getaway. The aircraft has an upper mainplane and it has a very long nose. I first saw this aircraft some years ago during a documentary about the Andes where it landed uphill on a 45 degree sloped runway. I understand that this aircraft design is illegal in the States. Enough clues?

one was a eurocopter tiger http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Eurocopter_Tiger
another was aMig http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Mikoyan_MiG-29
The single engine prop one I recal and looked to me as if it was a modified Cessna not sure which, but possibly a skyvan with the undreneath cargo pannier removed.

Sorry HH none of those. I wish I could be more specific. It appeared in the film before the main title sequence.

Hi after starting with Golden Eye and following loads and loads of links, I've answered my question. It was a Swiss Pilatus PC 6A Porter. Very interesting aircraft well worth a follow up. :D

In memory of a very dear friend - Mike Pearson

Very fond memories of Robbie Gilvary - DTs 1st Vulcan Captain who taught DT all he knew.
