A Vulcan at Beaulieu !!!

Postby 350wedge » Sat Nov 07, 2009 9:21 pm

Went to the National Motor Museum at Beaulieu today, and guess what. I managed to find a Vulcan..... well sort of... :))

Its actually a model used in one of the James Bond films....

Anyways here's a quick pic with some other random car ;) I'll post up some of my other pictures later in another topic elsewhere....

considering the size of the other Thunderball Vulcan props, I'm surprise how small that one is :p

any info on what part it played in the film 350W?

No there was nothing listed as far as I could see. Unless the caption was hidden away somewhere...! It may have not been used in the film itself, but seeing as all the other exhibits did come from the films would be suprising if it hadnt been in some way....

I'm sure they would have used more than one model so googled & found this, tho' obviously these are larger models

Glad to see it is still there.... :)

Here's the info that accompanies the model

Image

(due to resizing of pic - it may be hard to actually read on here.......) It reads:

Vulcan Bomber model from the 1965 James Bond film 'Thunderball'
Under the guidance of it's number two operative, Emilio Largo, SPECTRE hijacks two atomic bombs from a British Vulcan Bomber during a NATO training exercise off the coast of Nassau. SPECTRE threatens to use the bombs to destroy a major city in Britain or the USA unless an exhorbitant ransom is paid.

And you'd be the only one who didn't bang their head on it!
