Thats it Bubbles, this is were I am stuck, well I have an idea but it would mean a few radical changes and it isn't anything the Club can help with. :)

I think the public will bore and become exhausted with the Vulcan struggle. I don't hear the management announcing additional sponsors as they promised - little or large. I appreciate there is the 1.6 million they can count on during the year, but I remember discussing with Richard Clarke earlier this year that this amount can not be asked of the Club and public for 2010 season.

Only time will tell.

Cottesmore families day, you for some reason spotted my father & I and had the audacity to shake both our hands and called for use to part with money, yet the TVOC couldn’t be bothered to get 558 serviceable (I know the full story on why she went U/S).

Steve,

Well we certainly seem to have upset you don't we!

I've just cut this one little bit out of your little argument with Denis and Gully.

I've quoted it because of all the **** you are coming out with at the moment this is the one that I find most annoying.

"TVOC could not be bothered to get 558 serviceable"

The Main door jack bracket failed Si 160 (every 20 flying hours or 20 days, whichever comes soonest, we check the door jack brackets to make sure there is no sign of distortion) the Port Forward bracket was in the process of failing. Last year a bracket broke, we lost a door jack and about a month of displays.

We had no more spares because we had used the last of the stock which we obtained from the RAF and our suppliers were still coming up with a new specification for the replacement item (the original material spec does not exist anymore)

We managed to obtain a spare bracket from the very nice people at Wellesbourne. That is myself, Mark Brown and Del drove up to Wellesbourne and robbed one of their brackets. We then got the removed item tested by the NDT section at Brize Norton and fitted back onto 558. We finished at about 19:00, were you still waiting for us to turn up then?

We have now managed to get some new door jack brackets manufactured, if we had waited (ie not managed to rob 655) we would have lost every display up to and including Leuchars. And yes Crew Chief I have remembered we would replace the bracket we borrowed from you.

Wedgy, perhaps you could create an 'Axes to Grind' or 'Personal Grievances' section in the forum, since that's what certain people seem to have hijacked my original thread for ;) :D

Sam, thanks for your personal input, although, the tone of your message, perhaps it would have more adept to have PM‘d me rather than expressing yourself in the public domain? :D

Well Mr Exceptionalsleeper, you seem to have a right bee in your bonnet!
"TVOC couldn't be bothered to get 558 serviceable" Utter and complete uninformed nonsense! X(
We, the engineers, have always strived to have our aircraft serviceable as soon as it can be achieved. You try working from 7 am through to 2am next morning and call that not trying! These lads work their collective butts off trying to provide you with a Vulcan display to watch and because you missed one due to reasons beyond their control, we are suddenly not any use!

Lay off the workers and take your beef to those who upset you.

Going back to funding for a minute - see thread title - I see on VTTS someone has dragged up the old chestnut of donating one or two of our up coming two free months from council tax :-o :-o :-o :-o

I think that's a really not on - I plan my year around that money and I bet like loads of others I can ill afford to be without it just after paying for Christmas ;)

Re: 558 Funding Update

Postby Old Rigger » Tue Nov 24, 2009 6:58 pm

The only thing that 'gets' me is all the good ideas club members come up with re contacting people, asking celebrities to support us and contacting media is never acknowledged or accepted/stopped by the trust, but is always left to 'us' to implement, when do those at the top do all this as it would be better coming from them rather than all of us swamping these people with emails/letters etc and then they can be seen to be involved and supporting the cause externally and internally to the club/forum.

Instead, all updates, cries for help etc are only posted on the VTSC Forum for us to pick up the ball, that is with the exception of Martin, David, Taff and any I have missed who have gone out and done talks at public venues, supported the Vulcan Village etc. But I still think that these communications/PR suggestions should be implemented by those in the trust/ or whose job it is and if they are already doing this why do we not know about/see it visibly outside the club/forum, that way we would not pass out incorrect gen or upset people as I said in the first paragraph.

I have yet to see anything in the public domain re education and SM I am still waiting for you to let me know when I can contact BAES education to see how far they got or what response they got from the VTST education department.

The so called education program is nothing more than a thinly veiled attempt at paying lip service to the HLF requirement, those involved need sacking a.s.ap. and the job doing properly

No bee in my bonnet my good man, I just have a very realistic and rational outlook on certain things triangular.

Firstly, as I explained quite eloquently to Sam via PM, that the message Taff sent me on the day of Cottesmore read in such away that the aircraft could have been flown later on in the day and he made no reference to the snag still being worked – what am I meant to think? Also, Cottesmore was a freeby wasn’t it?

Secondly, please don’t jump to conclusions, my issues are not with any of the engineers in the personal sense (included for clarity: John; Mark; Sam; Ray; Del or JJ.) as I have had the pleasure to work with them all. My beef is with Taff and above. I am not hear to discuss my reasons but some are blatently defenceless.

Thirdly, regards your comment on hours worked, how can I put this: I am a Techie in the RAF and detachment, to the educated ex-RAF man, I don’t need to discuss further. Besides, it is partly in your interest to safeguard your job by ensuring 558 gets maximum coverage during the season.

In conclusion, as previous said, my issue is with the management and despite my statement, it wasn't aimed at the engineers on a personal level - I hope this draws a line under this. If however, you feel the need to reply then please do, via PM.

To be fair Steve you can't go flinging mud in an open forum then expect it to go unanswered, then when it is answered expect the answers via PM, you gonna throw it out then expect it back.

FWIW I was very interested to read Sam's reply as to why 558 didn't fly at Cottesmore.

I've noticed a lot of mud slinging here since I joined the forum, so it certainly didn't do any harm to let everyone publicly know what the true situation was and what lengths they went to resolve the situation. :ymapplause:

I'd say you've lived a very sheltered existence then, Andrew.... :p

The past two weeks and only on this thread and even then just a
very few posts have been maybe a little testy. Many of us are here
on Iconic specifically to Avoid mudslinging. I know that's how I
wound up here.
