Soon to be more snow, just been for a walkround and the wind has moved round from the east to the north!

Shame there will be nobody to have a snowball fight with later!

We went to flying legends at Duxford in 2005 and again in 2008 (were meant to go to RIAT - that was wash out year).

Must admit it's one of the best shows. Really good atmosphere :D :D

Nice images..... Not doing any Duxford in 2010.
Too expensive for what you get.

Will go along on the Friday / day before and use FoD membership and shoot arrivals / practice displays.

That surprises me Nickolas! I thought the Autumn Airshow was well worth the money, I think it was £22.50. The F-16 displayed for 20 minutes!! Longest fast jet display I have ever seen and it was amazing. The fact that your £22.50 includes entrance into all the hangars makes it even more worth it.

On the other hand the USA Air Day was NOT worth the money, I never paid and watched it from outside, that event was incredibly disappointing.

Duxford can be very hit or miss with it's airshows. Only a few days prior to the Autumn Airshow there was a LARGE list of cancellations and I was pissed that I bought my ticket online as it wasn't looking worth it. However on the day a lot of the aircraft that were apparently not flying flew which was a good surprise.

I guess a lot of "is it worth it" is down to the individual and what they want to see. I would have happily paid the entrance fee if just the Sabre was displaying. The 3 aircraft I really wanted to see was the Sabre, Mustang and F-16, the fact that they all flew made it worth every penny for me but I know a lot of people were disappointed because there was no Vulcan, no Sea King, no Chinook, no Typhoon and the rest that were cancelled.

I guess the one thing that annoys me about Duxford is the blatant lying that goes on to publicise the event. It was about 4 weeks before the date when they stated on the website "list of aircraft already confirmed" and it included the Chinook and the Typhoon. This was a blatant lie because on their respective websites AGES ago it states that those 2 aircrafts display seasons finished way before the Duxford date so Duxford would have been aware they would not get those aircraft to display, therefore, why did they put them down as confirmed on the main page? ~x(

I'll be going to American Air Day (if it's on) at Duxford this year as you get to see a lot of aircraft you usually wouldn't at other airshows.

Duxford is a GREAT museum to visit and a GREAT airshow to watch from outside!

Now........ The Flying Proms is a great event.
Ticket price includes museum, bring your eats, drinks and set up for a good afternoon / evenings entertainment.
Last went a couple of years ago and the finale was a grand firework display. :D :D
The Grand Finale was the setting on fire of the crops in the field behind the grand fireworks display ........ =)) =)) =))

Took a while to get out but we were kept amused by Cambridgeshire Fire and Rescue strutting their stuff.

DEFINITELY worth the money that year.

What ever you paid the farmer was worth every penny.

What do you reckon on an AI meet there then???

The farmer didn't want anything but I gave him £20 anyway as he let me and my friend ride our motorbikes all over his crops :ymblushing: :)) Absolutely fantastic bloke.

When I went to the Autumn airshow the gravel track that leads to the fields was roped off :( I am hoping that because the USA Air Day was a relatively small event that the track will be "open" again this year. If it isnt then theres plenty of other places I found to park and I can walk to that track instead.

I was sat on the bank at the end of the runway right by the electric fence.... in the rain, it was a little un-nerving :))

I'm definately up for an IA meet up using Mr Farmers field for the ultimate Duxford experience.

I posted it here before I think but for more of an idea on how amazing it was here's the video link, the Mustang and Sabre buzzing me was just awesome, made my day. Music added to drown out my friends constant moaning of how bored he was ~x(
